The kimonos for the GION AYA Maiko and Geiko Experience are made by a long-established Kyoto kimono store, and are mainly made with elegant classical patterns, with patterns that look great when seen standing, sitting, and from behind.
We have carefully selected gorgeous "ohikiri" kimonos that look great in photos.
We offer kimonos and gorgeous obi sashes with a focus on elegant, classic patterns that look great in photographs, such as when standing, sitting, from behind, or with the hem of the kimono lifted, and are very popular with kimono lovers.
You may choose any kimono for free, except for the special maiko kimono and special Geisha kimono.
You can choose a special kimono inherited from your older sister who was a professional maiko or Geisha as a special maiko kimono or special Geisha kimono. Because these kimonos are very valuable, an additional fee (8,800 yen) will be charged on top of the plan you select.
The special kimonos are given to us by professional kimonos, so the difference in quality is obvious, with some having patterns on the lining and others being all-dyed. (Special kimonos are only available to those under 160cm tall, and reservations must be made in advance.)
For example, did you know that maiko have older and younger sisters?
Older maiko are just about to become geiko, and they often choose simple, calm kimonos and obi that are closer to geiko. The maiko experience is not just cute, but depending on how you coordinate and wear your kimono, you can become a cool, sharp maiko.
