A blog for families considering having their children experience becoming a maiko

Hello everyone. I am Takazawa, a staff member at GION AYA Maiko Experience Center.

Congratulations to everyone who has enrolled in kindergarten or school (⋈◍＞◡＜◍). ✧♡
We hope all current students enjoy the new semester with renewed enthusiasm °˖✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧˖°

Today, I would like to write about the new school year, as I have been receiving many inquiries about having children experience being a maiko.

Regarding the preparation for maiko, the makeup process is exactly the same as that of adults.

It will take about 40 minutes to put on makeup.

Our staff, who have been preparing children's hair for many years, have come up with the answer: we offer this experience for children aged 7 and up, in the first grade of elementary school (height must be at least 115cm, and hair must be long enough).

(※ Because each child is different, it is difficult to generalize with numbers, but we would appreciate it if you could contact us by phone or LINE.)

This time, we will show you some popular kimonos for children with pictures to answer the question: Can small children wear kimonos?

*The kimono is an example. (Smaller and larger kimonos are also available.

The kimono can be adjusted so that even small children can wear it.

This kimono is made in standard size for children's kimonos.

For children who are 115cm tall, the drag and swing are long.

Up to 135cm is best!!
