The makeup staff at GION AYA Maiko Experience Center are not just trying out facial makeup, they are also trying out various other things!

At GION AYA, the number of days that employees work is limited, but we also have freelancers.Photographer Kimura(AKA Kimu-san) is currently enrolled.

 

The other day, I was invited by Kimu-san and went on a business trip to do hair and makeup.

(This is separate from the work I am doing at GION AYA.)

It was my first time doing hair and makeup for a professional model, so I was nervous, but it was a great shoot with my client in a wonderful venue, so I'd like to share a little bit about what it was like~

 

The venue was a wedding hall in Omihachiman, Shiga Prefecture. It was surrounded by nature, was open, and was very beautiful.

We didn't have enough time for a proper meeting beforehand, so on the day, the client told us (roughly) what they wanted to do and left the rest up to us.

I did the hair and makeup to match the product (shaping underwear) and the model's image.

(Since product information has not yet been released, the product images have been hidden with stamps...)

 

This time, I was shooting seven products, so I thought about the image and the flow in advance, and tried to do my hair and makeup in a way that would allow as much time as possible for shooting.

Although I was unfamiliar with the job, I usually work at GION AYA, asking customers about the look they want and then applying makeup and dressing them within a limited time, so that experience was a real help.

The client also had a particular color of underwear that she was a little worried about the final result, but she really liked the hair and makeup she had done at the time.

I was really happy that she was happy that her underwear looked cuter.

 

And...

It was also a lot of fun accompanying Kimu-san to the filming location and seeing how he works.

My usual style is a little darker and cool, but I think it's amazing that Kim can take photos with a variety of images, such as soft and fluffy atmospheres and gorgeous images.

This is because the underlying principle is to "take photos that will please the customer," which I feel when I take photos at GION AYA.

Creating a design that matches the image the client is looking for is just as important as what we do at GION AYA.

 

Of course, she has a great figure because she is a model, but to make her look even more stylish, I think it's important to take the photo from this angle.

It took almost a whole day of shooting, but it was so much fun and rewarding that the time flew by.

I realized once again that there is still a lot we can pursue at GION AYA, by taking on a job that is different from the usual.

I want to go out and try new things again.
