In search of a more realistic maiko...

This is the all-mighty staff of GION AYA, the Maiko Experience Center. The cherry blossom season is over and the season of fresh greenery has arrived, so we would like to introduce some of the customers who visited us this spring. I have been in charge of this customer, A, for over 10 years now. Until now, I was only in charge of makeup, dressing, and assisting with photography, but recently I have been in charge of everything, including photography. What A wants is"THE REAL"Whenever they come to our store, they have their hair done and bring all of their own kimono, obi and photo accessories with them. As these kimonos and obi are actually worn by professional maiko, the texture of the kimono and obi always makes me excited every time I see them. When they put on makeup, they want it to be just as light as a professional maiko's... no, even lighter and more natural. Now, this time I would like to focus on the photos. Many customers who come to our store want to have photos of them transformed into maikos with Japanese makeup, which is something they can't normally do, and their kimonos, so we take photos with their eyes perfectly aligned and with them posed well, but in the case of Ms. A, she prefers photos that look like they've just happened to be walking around the streets of Kyoto. For example, something like this↓↓ Yes. There are so many maikos like this. It feels like it just came out of the store. I even included people walking down the street.(I'll try to take the photos so that my face doesn't show up in them as much as possible...)   ↓It's a scene where you can see her completely walking away from the camera...   ↓The cherry blossoms are in full bloom... I looked up and thought...   ↓Ah! A maiko is walking around the corner! That's the scene. So, I always take pictures of A-san naturally doing maiko-like gestures and posing! So, there are very few photos that say, "Look! She's a maiko!"
