Now, everyone.
"What is inu-yari, a feature of old-fashioned town houses?" The word's origin is said to be "inu wo yarau," which means "to chase away dogs," and when the kanji was used, it became "inu-yari."
Why "dogs?" Well, don't dogs often walk along walls? So this was born from the ingenuity of a Kyoto resident who wished that their dog would stop peeing every once in a while! It also has other highly practical uses, such as "keeping thieves away because its curved shape makes it difficult to climb," "marking the boundary between the road and the property," and "preventing rainwater from splashing up from the ground and hitting the wooden fence of a house."
Not only is it highly practical, it blends in with the beautiful streetscape, adding charm and vitality to the city of Kyoto.
Now that I've given you this little bit of Kyoto trivia, I'd like to move on to the main topic of the blog.
Here are 2018 things you should be aware of before experiencing being a maiko!!! 08/18/33255/XNUMX">The manager of the store, Sono, is a makeup geek (eyebrows edition), but Takasawa is a cost-effective girl who wants to try anything that looks good and is usable.
The Japanese cosmetics I will be introducing this time are the following three items:
Takasawa: The brand I always use is Miyoshi, a cosmetics brand that specializes in Japanese makeup and stage makeup.
・The dark brown eyebrow pencil is a soft pencil, so you can apply color just by lightly stroking it. Be careful not to make it too dark, as it will make the texture look flat! (My eyebrows are black, so this color was perfect for me. They also have a lighter brown! I always put on eyebrow mascara at the end.)
・The maroon eyeliner pencil is also very soft to the touch. If you draw it a little thick and blend it a little, it will give you a soft orange-brown color. (I often use burgundy tones for a heavy makeup look, but this is great when you want to make your makeup look more natural.) Oh! By the way, did you know that maroon is the color of the Hankyu trains?\(◎o◎)/![]()
The other one is ⇊
・This eyeliner is called Stage Liner (black, glossy). It is a liquid type, so it creates a clear, firm line.
(The handle is too short for me, and it's too thin, so I'm still not used to using it and have a hard time with it ^^; So I only use it to flick the corners of my eyes!)
If you are considering purchasing Miyoshi's makeup cosmetics, please do so online or here ⇓

The route from GION AYA, the Maiko Experience Center
It's about a 40 minute walk, or take a bus or taxi to Kawaramachi for about 10 minutes, then walk along Shinkyogoku Street towards Sanjo for about 5 minutes.
(This may vary depending on the number of people and cars.)
The last day I used the makeup products I made today (although it wasn't just these three items lol) ↓
