I am the make-up staff of the maiko experience place GION AYA♡

 

Although I usually call myself a makeup geek, today I am a mommy makeup artist and a mother of two.

As a staff member and mother myself, I would like to strongly recommend the following to you today:Maiko experience for children♡

My daughter is currently in the first grade of elementary school, but just after she entered kindergarten, we went on a maiko experience together as parents during the summer vacation.

Of course, it is my job, so I wanted people to see what I do,

Above all, I was born in Japan, and I was born and raised in Kyoto, so I wanted her to know that Kyoto has this kind of culture and beauty that is unique to Japan.

 

Even before becoming an elder,Gion Aya's YouTubeI showed her the following, and we also went shopping at kimono and hairpin shops in Kyoto. When she learned that there are so many things that add to the beauty of Japan before she experienced being a maiko, she became very interested in maikos.

I don't understand everything, but as long as she's a girl, it's important to show her things that I find beautiful and cute!!! That's my philosophy, so I'm really happy that my daughter is interested in them too(*´▽｀*)

For that reason, I would like to introduce some things to ease your family's concerns.

 

Q1. I wonder if my daughter would look good in maiko makeup???

 

A1. I don't think you've shaved your eyebrows yet, so you can cover up any excess hair by applying white paint with hair oil!

A1. For children with single eyelids, or for children with a combination of single eyelids and deep-set eyelids that results in an uneven balance between the left and right eyelids, it can be adjusted with eyeliner or eye tape!

A1. Makeup that preserves the innocent cuteness that only children have, and for daughters who want to look a little more grown up, it can be done a little!

 

Q2. Can I endure unfamiliar kimonos and wigs?

 

A2. GION AYA children's kimonos come with built-in obi sashes so that children can wear them with ease!

A2. We also use half wigs for children, but some children get startled when the half wig is unstable or heavy, or when the edges touch them, so we take into consideration the things that children may be concerned about when setting the wig, such as placing a towel between the wigs when creating the base!

 

Q3. Can you stand having your face touched while wearing makeup?

A3. Children are particularly sensitive about the white face paint and eye makeup, but the makeup staff will use words and explanations to make sure the child feels at ease, such as "I'm going to touch you like this" or "If you look this way it won't be scary."

Q4. Can I pose for photos?

A4. We have prepared sample poses for children that are tailored to their height and ease of movement, so you can choose your favorite pose from them!

A4. During the shoot, the photographer will talk to you about various things and try to find ways to bring out a smile on your child's face.

Q5. How much help can I give after the maiko experience is over?

A5. After the maiko experience is over, staff will help your child remove their makeup and wash their hair, while checking to see what they can do!

A5. If I see my child thinking, "I want to try that," or "I can do it," I will respect that!

Children don't need to help with everything, so if I think they might want to try something on their own, I let them do it.

 

Our staff is always aware of the feelings of the family and will make various comments to them in order to be considerate of their needs.
