Maiko Experience Place GION AYA - It'll soon be February (^^)/ It's Setsubun! It's time to defeat demons!! So I thought I'd write about the Setsubun festival (^^♪), so if you're interested, please read it ( *´艸｀)

  Hello everyone (*´ω｀*) January is almost over 💦 It's so fast... Tomorrow is February. It's Setsubun. Have you bought any beans? Have you reserved ehomaki? Or are you making some by hand? I haven't done anything yet... This is Takemika, who had planned to take her little one to the local Setsubun festival, but completely forgot (;^ω^) So, this year, she couldn't see the demons... But here at Gion, instead of demons? You can meet maikos ♪ Maikos from Gion Kobu, Gion Higashi, Pontocho, and Miyagawacho will be coming to Yasaka Shrine, which is a 1-2 minute walk from our shop, on February 2nd and 3rd✨ At this festival, maiko dress up as ghosts and dance. To see this dance from the front, you have to go at least an hour before the festival. After the Maiko finishes dancing, there is a bean-throwing event, and of course you want some of the beans that the Maiko threw, right?! There are so many people, but it's fun♪ This is the only time you can see the Maiko up close. They are so cute, aren't they? (*´ω｀*) The Setsubun Festival is divided into two days, so you can go when the maiko you want to see is there, or you can go on both days. Both days are in the afternoon, so you can do some sightseeing in Gion in the morning, experience being a maiko yourself and then watch the real thing, or watch the real thing and then become a maiko yourself.
