Lately I've been writing only about geisha on my blog, so if you're wondering "What is a geisha?" or "How is it different from a maiko?" I thought I'd help those of you who are wondering understand the difference at least a little!! That's the long title of this blog (;^ω^)

Autumn has already passed and winter has come quickly in Kyoto.

So, the other day, we finally started using the living room in winter. It was cold up until now. Now we can get through the winter (lol)

All that's left now is to put up the Christmas tree. I wonder when I should put it up. This is Takemika, who is currently pondering this question. I've tried adding furigana this time.

 

 

Recently, I've been posting a lot of geisha, so I thought I'd take this opportunity to let everyone know more about geisha, and to let everyone understand the difference between maiko and geisha at GION AYA!!(*'And')

 Well, first let's compare the photos.

 On the left is a maiko and on the right is a geisha.

As you can see, maikos wear gorgeous kimonos and loose obi. Their makeup is also cute and youthful. (Maikos can also be made to look pretty, so please ask the staff in charge.)

Since real maikos tie their hair in a 'jige' knot, we use a half wig. This will give you the look of a hairdo that looks like it was tied with your own hair☆ We also add a flower hairpin, which gives a gorgeous and cute impression (*^^*)

Geisha tend to wear short, simple kimonos, and their obi belts are not loose but rather tightly fitted.

As for makeup, we will prepare you with a pretty and sexy look or a chic and cool look. (Of course, we can also prepare you with a refined and gentle look, so please let the staff know about this too (*^^*))

Professional geisha also wear wigs, so all the geisha in our shop also wear wigs.

Before putting on the wig, a material called habutae is put on the head.

At this time, the device will be applied to lift your face slightly, so you may feel a slight tightness. Please let us know if you feel any pain or discomfort.

There are so many differences between them, but I'll write a bit more about geikos rather than maikos so that you can get to know them better.

So, for those of you wondering, what exactly are geisha?

A geisha is a person who performs dance, singing, shamisen, etc. in a tatami room.

So, what is the difference between a maiko and a geisha? A maiko is still in the training period to become a geisha, and as she cannot yet perform as many performing arts as a geisha, she dresses in a more showy outfit to entertain the audience visually.

Maiko can only work up to 20 years old, while Geiko can work from 20 years old onwards, and there is no particular rule as to how long they can continue.

Besides black, we also have pink and purple kimonos, as shown in the photo, as well as white kimonos and brown kimonos with a more subdued atmosphere.

However, black is still the most popular color for many people because it brings to mind the image of a geisha.

After all, black looks dignified, doesn't it?

The poses are similar to those of maiko but different!!!

The pose is designed to make you look more sexy, elegant, and refined. I took the photos paying close attention to every single angle of your gaze, face, etc.

I think each photo captures an atmosphere that a maiko could not create.

The beauty of not only young people but also older people...

As expected, she exudes a sexiness that younger people just can't have (*^_^*)

Personally, I like geisha who are chic and sharp, but also sexy, so if you tell me to give me that kind of look when applying my makeup, I'll be very excited and do my best to get ready♪
