Everyone, Happy New Year!![]()
How did you spend the New Year? I felt festive after eating osechi and drinking sake with gold leaf.![]()
We had a lot of families come to visit us in 2015!
"Thank you very much. I look forward to your continued support in 2016."
So, Takasawa's first blog post of the year will be titled "My Secrets on Maiko Makeup for Children."
The thing I pay the most attention to when putting on makeup for my children is to make sure they still look like their child.
Let's start with introducing your child:
Y-chan is so tiny and cute as she holds the umbrella with all her might.
My index finger is irresistible!
H-chan with cute smiling cheeks
Cheek...I want to pinch it
H-chan has sparkling eyes and is very pretty.
It feels like I'm being sucked in![]()
So let’s start by talking about my makeup preferences (#^.^#)
The basics remain the same and we apply makeup in the same way as adults.
The most important thing to consider when getting ready is balance. I feel that balance is important in all aspects of makeup, wigs, and kimonos.
I want to make the most of my child's small size, so I made her eyebrows short and thin and not too dark.
I want to bring out contrast in the photos, so I draw my eyeliner in a way that makes it look bold!
We want to make sure the red doesn't get too big, but the firmness is an absolute must!!!
We have small wigs available for children, but just like for adults, we take the utmost care in determining the size and tension of the hair.
Finally, the balance of the kimono.
On the left is a customer who is in his 160cm height and on the right is a child who is just under 130cm tall.
You can see the difference in height from the height of the hanging scroll and accessories in the back, but even if you look at the size of the kimono, obi, and wig, there is almost no difference from adults. (However, the obi for children is pre-tied to reduce the burden on them.)
In this way, even children can look cute and dress up as maikos with well-made makeup.
In order for children to become maiko in the same way as adults, there are restrictions on age, height, etc.
Please understand that this is to ensure you enjoy an authentic maiko experience. <(_ _)>
Our staff look forward to welcoming not only your children but your whole family to experience this!
Please contact us by email or phone, or ask us any questions you may have.
